Mental Fortitude – Break Through Your Barriers

Mental fortitude is defined as: mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, anger or temptation courageously.

I also like Entrepreneur magazine’s definition: the ability to focus on and execute solutions when in the face of uncertainty or adversity.

How Do You Develop Mental Fortitude?

There are different ways to go about it. One of my favorite ways is ,what’s considered, having a fit mind. I feel like the sharper your mental faculties are, the easier it is to have and develop mental fortitude.

This includes eating right, taking the right supplements and herbs, reading the right things and developing the ability to focus.

Also, knowing when to guard your mind of harmful things. Negative people have negative conversations. Those conversations over time (even instantly in some cases) can have an adverse effect on your inner peace.

Watching disturbing programs that trigger you can effect your inner peace as well. It’s hard to have mental fortitude if it’s not feeding on things that reinforce you.

Ways To Build Mental Fortitude

 

Check out this video by Alux, one of my favorite places to hang out online lol. They made a video on ways to build mental fortitude and I really think it would help you tremendously for whatever you have in your sights.

They drop jewels like not letting 1 mistake define you. Does this sound familiar?

You get up in the morning, get ready for work, go to the kitchen to fix something quick to eat, then the madness happens. Peanut butter and no jelly, ham and no burger, cereal and no milk.

This triggers you (right before you jump into traffic) to feel like the universe is against you somehow because you hit a couple of snags making a snack.

You begin to feel like you’re worthless because things won’t levitate to your palm as needed. Finally, you start questioning why you bother to do anything. F*cking sucks right?

Another jewel is to not get caught in repetitive cycles.

We must learn from our past mistakes or we will continue to repeat them. Doing this can stifle possibility and warp your perspective on how you look at the world.

This is something you don’t want to do because it will turn your world into a fish bowl. You must break your bad habits and choices if you want to see a significant change in your life.

Lastly…

In conclusion, mental fortitude is not an easy thing to acquire. It’s going to take a lot of inner strength to build your mind into a force to be reckoned with.

You will experience some pain along the way, but only growing pains. Part of this process entails losing “friends” who serve no positive purpose.

Also, losing your comfort zone. Your comfort zone (that fish bowl) is not helping your grow into the person you want to be. If anything, it has been converted into a mental prison cell and you don’t even know it.

Find the courage to build the fortitude and watch how high you fly.
